Abstract
The Barkhausen noise analysis method for nondestructive residual stress measurement in ferromagnetic steels is described. Photographs showing the influence of stress on magnetic domain walls are presented; qualitative and quantitative calibration results are summarized. Results of exploratory measurements on a variety of jet engine components: compressor blades, compressor disks, diffuser cases and ball bearings, are presented and discussed. Keywords
