Abstract
From a study of cavitation, the author has worked out the independent theory outlined in the paper. An idealized problem is demonstrated, in which a small hemispherical cavity, with vacuum inside, in a semi-infinite mass of homogeneous incompressible fluid acted upon by no body forces, the pressure at infinity being supposed constant, is seated at rest on a solid infinite plane surface: To investigate the motion. Keywords
