Hemoglobin, serum calcium, copper, magnesium and zinc during the first trimester of pregnancy in Pakistani women

Abstract
Hemoglobin, serum calcium, copper, magnesium and zinc levels were studied during the first trimester of pregnancy, and compared in samples of the urban and rural population. All the subjects examined had low value of hemoglobin but they showed no clinical evidence of anemia. In general, a decreasing trend in calcium.magnesium and zinc levels and an increasing trend of copper levels with increasing gestational age was observed in both groups but the differences were not statistically significant (p < 0.05).
