Are the Elderly Overhoused? Definitions of Space Utilization and Policy Implications1

Abstract
The effects of relocation on psychosocial status were studied. Employing an experimental-control design, it was found that among certain subgroups of patients relocation resulted in significant decreases in depression, alienation, and distress, but it resulted in an improvement in self-concept for all patients regardless of age, sex, or race. Recommendations for future relocations are offered.
