Abstract
In 15 patients, free of demonstrable cardiovascular renal disfunction, Tmg, (transport maximum for glucose) insulin clearance and chloride excretion rate were measured using standard clearance methodology for two hours following the intravenous administration of mercaptomerin (2 ml) and meralluride (3 ml/hr.). Postmercuiral Tmg (299.8 [plus or minus] 61.8) did not differ significantly from control values (288.0 [plus or minus] 79.3). No significant change was noted between control and postmercurial insulin clearance. It is concluded that in man, meralluride and mercaptomerin do not depress Tmg.Keywords
