Abstract
The series resistance-inductance circuit controlled by triggering of a silicon-controlled rectifier pair results in load voltage and current of different nonsinusoidal waveforms. Rigorous analysis of the harmonic voltages and currents results in calculated values agreeing very closely with measurements. The effective power factor is found to remain almost constant at the sinusoidal value. Fundamental load power can be accurately measured with a wattmeter in some cases. Keywords
