Abstract
Basal metabolism studies were made at the nutrition laboratory on 3 men and 1 woman, to obtain more information in regard to the effect on the basal metabolic rate of advancing age. These subjects were chosen because data on their basal metabolism had been accumulating over a long period of years. With the woman the basal metabolism between 24 and 36 yrs. remained remarkably constant. The 3 men served as subjects during the age range of 30-59 yrs.; with 2 of them, a distinct decrease in the metabolism was noted as age increased; with the 3rd, the effect of age was probably masked by an incresase in body weight and general improvement in physical condition. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
