The Inlet Length for Oscillatory Flow and its Effects on the Determination of the Rate of Flow in Arteries

Abstract
A summary of the hydrodynamics determining inlet length as applied to oscillatory flow is given. A numerical example is carried out and the results are represented on graphs. From these results it is observed that the pressure gradient near the entrance is strongly influenced by the entrance effects. An approximate method is developed for the calculation of the rate of flow from pressure gradient readings made in the entrance region.
