Abstract
This report deals with five patients in whom nine eyes had surgery performed for control of primary elevated intraocular pressure. Filtering operations are most frequently employed for this purpose. Delayed restoration or flatness of the anterior chamber which develops after filtering and other antiglaucoma operations is sometimes followed by a serious postoperative complication. The usual result is formation of goniosynechiae and block of the trabecular drainage area. The incidence of delayed chamber restoration or of flat anterior chamber developing several days after cataract surgery is relatively infrequent, varying from 4% to 10%. Delayed chamber restoration after filtering glaucoma operations, unfortunately, occurs rather often (30% to 50% of cases). A peripheral iridectomy performed in prodromal narrow-angle glaucoma (as a prophylactic measure) with controlled tension may at times be followed by the presence of a flat postoperative anterior chamber for several days.
