High-energy cosmic-ray tau neutrino flux from the Milky Way

Abstract
We calculate the high-energy tau neutrino flux (E \geq 10^3 GeV) originating from the interactions of high-energy cosmic-rays with the matter present in our galaxy. We use perturbative as well as nonperturbative QCD approaches and calculate the tau neutrino flux up to E \leq 10^11 GeV. The main source of this flux is the production and decay of D_s for E \leq 10^9 GeV. For 10^9 \leq E/GeV \leq 10^11, the tau neutrino flux from other heavier quark decays as well as from direct production is comparable to that from D_s. We also briefly mention the prospects for observation.
