Abstract
An overview of a new dyeing process for dyeing synthetic fibres and fabrics is presented. The use of disperse dyes in supercritical carbon dioxide as dyeing medium completely avoids water pollution and the need of drying. Laboratory results which show that excellent levelness and fastness can be achieved on poly- (ethylene terephthalate) and other synthetic materials are presented. The technical development is described and other potential uses of supercritical fluids in the textile field are discussed. Keywords
