Abstract
Transition Radiation is the term adopted to describe a feeble radiation emitted when a charged particle crosses the boundary between two media having different optical properties. The paper describes experiments to establish the existence of this effect, which has previously only been studied theoretically. The results, obtained from studies of the polarization of the radiation, its excitation function and its absolute yield, confirm the predictions of theory. Keywords
