Abstract
Based upon observations on feeding, nesting habits, and distribution of these and related birds, in the and Southwest, the author concludes that Grinnell is mistaken in believing that the young require water in liquid form and that the progressive diminution in number may be ascribed to lack of water. Quails have not been observed to nest near water. It is suggested that succulent vegetation and insects, in the diet, may supply the necessary water for life processes. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
