Abstract
Following an introduction on millimetre waves and their applications, the various types of guiding media for this frequency range are illustrated and described. Particular attention is paid to the H-, groove and fence guides and their derivatives. The discrepancies between theoretical and experimental attenuation of rectangular waveguides is discussed, the characteristics, theory and history of groove guides are given and the use of fence guides in millimetre-wave integrated circuits is treated. The review ends with a comparison of the useful frequency ranges and characteristic data of the various guides. Keywords
