Abstract
Two groups of 40 nongenarians, one coming to autopsy and the other diagnosed clinically only, were studied with reference to the presence of infective lesions. Both showed a preponderance of respiratory tract disease with infections of the urinary tract and of the skin occurring less often. The autopsy series showed 17 fatal and 43 non-fatal infections. The clinical series had 16 fatal and 22 non-fatal conditions. Multiple infective processes were common in both groups.
