Specificity of the antibody response of rabbits to a self-antigen

Abstract

The antigenic determinants on rabbit cytochrome c that elicit antibodies in rabbits occur in regions of variability among mammalian cytochromes c and suggest the existence of an evolutionary process which eliminates genetic specificities for self-determinants.
