Abstract
The paper gives an introduction to and comparison of the four recursive identification algorithms most commonly used in self-tuning control. The paper demonstrates that the algorithms are very similar, and a simple simulation example is used to compare the algorithms and to give some insight into the suitability of each method for a particular problem. Choice of algorithm is seen to depend on four factors: model complexity, noise/signal ratio, convergence rate, and computational expense. Keywords
