Abstract
Evidence has accumulated that the kidneys release a substance which tends to prevent arterial hypertension. This study was to find principally whether complete portalization of the renal effluent blood results in hypertension and thus point to an antipressor agent inactivated by the liver. Chronic complete portalization of the renal effluent blood of dogs did not alter arterial pressure. Furthermore, such portalization did not prevent onset of hypertension after renal arterial constriction with clamps. Keywords
