Abstract
Certain well-known series expansions have proved very useful in imperfect gas theory. Series formally identical with those of imperfect gas theory can also be developed in other, quite unrelated, problems in statistical mechanics. Criteria for the existence of this formal analogy and examples are discussed. Keywords
