Abstract
The design of a cold‐cathode electron gun and its integration into a small high‐pressure gas laser system are described. The gun, which has produced current densities up to 4 A/cm2 for pulse durations of ∼1 μsec FWHM, and the laser chamber are compact enough to mount on an optical table. This system has been used to achieve multiatmosphere operation of a number of molecular gas lasers, including CO2, N2O, CS2, CO, and C2H2.Keywords
