Abstract
The purposes of this article are, first, to expose the mathematical similarities between variational mesh generation and hyperelasticity theory and, second, to show how elements and tools of hyperelasticity theory can be employed for analysis and practical construction of domain deformation mappings utilized in variational mesh generation. Keywords
