Abstract
The energies of the Hg199 50-, 158-, and 208-keV, and Hg198 676-and 1088-keV transitions have been measured. This has been done by comparing the momenta of the internal conversion lines of each transition with three conversion lines of the Hg198 412-keV transition, the energy of which has been previously measured with high accuracy. The comparison was made using the Chalk River π√2 β-ray spectrometer. From the momentum comparisons the following transition energies were obtained: Hg199, 49.828 ± 0.004, 158.370 ± 0.006, and 208.198 ± 0.007 keV; Hg198, 675.878 ± 0.018 and 1087.69 ± 0.03 keV.
