Abstract
The development of meso- and thermophilic microorganisms proceeeded more strongly in the examined farmyard manure than in the liquid cattle manure. The most vigoruos proliferation of mesophilic bacteria and fungi was found in both dungs during the 1st wk of fermentation. Relatively greater numbers of mesophilic actinomycetes were noticed in the later experimental period. Compared to mesophilic microorganisms, thermophilic ones were less numerous and quantitatively variable in the tested dungs. Unlike the farmyard manure, thermophilic actinomycetes did not occur at all in the liquid dung. After 3 mo. the coliform titre decreased to 101 in the liquid manure, but to 104 in the farmyard manure.
