Abstract
A geometric estimate for the size of the bootstrap current has been implemented in a plasma equilibrium code and applied to the Modular Helias‐like Heliac (MHH) stellarator [Nucl. Fusion34, 881 (1994)]. The predicted change in the rotational transform of the MHH due to the bootstrap current has been brought down to an acceptable level, and this has resulted in one of the smallest stellarator reactor candidates to be discovered so far. Keywords
