Abstract
Filamentation and Brillouin-enhanced four-wave-mixing instabilities caused by the cooperative interaction between two counterpropagating electromagnetic waves are shown to possess larger convective growth rates and smaller absolute instability thresholds than the conventional single-pump instabilities. These cooperative instabilities may be important in certain laser-plasma interaction experiments. Keywords
