Abstract
The elementary excitations of Laughlin for the fractional quantum Hall effect have been examined. In the calculation of the quasiparticle energies, some of the approximations originally introduced by Laughlin have been removed, and accurate results are obtained within the hypernetted-chain scheme. Keywords
