Abstract
An overview is given of the synthesis and functioning of the different types of diamine extractants updating it with improvements in synthetic methods and providing a more quantitative treatment of metal ion and extractant interaction. The latter emphasized the significance of relative affinity of the extractant for hydrogen ions as compared to metal ions and its extraction efficiency On the one hand, differences of operation amongst diamines and on the other hand, between diamines and mono-amines, are also illustratedKeywords
