Abstract
The signs and lesions of a field outbreak of Salmonella thompson infection in chickens are described and discussed. A mortality of 30% was noted and death losses and poor quality birds were observed until the flock was destroyed at 6(1/2) weeks of age. The S. thompson infection was established in experimental groups of chicks by oral administration of cultures and by egg contamination. Attention is called to the need for a new look at S. thompson as a unique avian pathogen.
