Abstract
A one-dimensional theory of the behavior of a nonlinear viscoelastic bar subjected to a constant tensile load is developed with the aid of a creep law considering secondary creep alone. The theoretical value of the time at which the bar ruptures and the shape calculated for the necked portion of the bar are in satisfactory agreement with the results of experiments. Keywords
