Abstract
The cationic photopolymerization of a new biorenewable monomer, glycerol tripropenyl ether, was carried out to determine whether it is suitable for use in such thin film applications as photocurable inks, coatings, and adhesives. Studies of the photoinduced homopolymerization of this monomer and its copolymerizations with other mono- and difunctional propenyl ethers were conducted in the presence of diaryliodonium and triarylsulfonium salt initiators. The dependence of such properties as the gel fraction, hardness, impact, and adhesion of model coatings upon the structure and composition of the monomers used and on UV irradiation dose and postcure were investigated. Keywords
