Abstract
The collective modes of a lateral multiwire superlattice made from two-dimensional strips of alternating equilibrium electron densities are investigated in the semiclassical hydrodynamic approximation. Numerical results for the dispersion relation of the lowest three plasmon bands are given explicitly and the optical absorption spectra (appropriate for far-infrared spectroscopic experiments) for the system are obtained. Both bulk and edge plasmons are considered in the theory. Keywords
