Tensile Properties of Cu3Au Single Crystals

Abstract
The tensile properties of ordered and disordered Cu3Au single crystals have been investigated. Measurements have been made to determine the influence of initial orientation of the tensile axis and of the domain size on the work hardening characteristics of Cu3Au. It is shown that the work hardening rate of the ordered crystals increases with the domain size and the occurrence of secondary slip. The nature of the effects is discussed in terms of previous results on Ni3Fe. It is concluded that they can be explained by the antiphase boundary tube mechanism.
