Abstract
Cellular fixation of cytophilic anti-human albumin antibody present in sera of hype rim munized rabbits was investigated. The amount of detectable cell-bound antibody depended on the antigen concentration. A portion of the antibody adsorbed at 0[degree]C was eluted upon incubation at 37[degree]C and formed precipitating complexes with antigen in solution. Species differences in the adsorption of cytophilic antibody onto spleen cells indicate a heterogeneity of cytophilic activity. Antibody adsorbed to normal spleen cells at 0[degree]C and eluted at 37[degree]C showed an increased tendency to become readsorbed onto normal cells. Elution of antibody from immune cells was measured. The relation of these findings to recently developed methods for measuring antibody producing cells is discussed. Keywords
