Trimethylsilyl Chloride-Tin(II) Chloride-Anisole: A Novel Selectivep-Methoxybenzyl Ether Cleavage Reagent

Abstract
A combination system of trimethylsilyl chloride, anisole, and a catalytic amount of tin(II) chloride cleaved p-methoxybenzyl ethers selectively in the presence of benzyl ethers under mild conditions to afford parent alcohols in high yields.
