Abstract
To the Editor: We recently observed a case of Coxiella burnetii infection of a vascular prosthesis, in which the infection serologically resembled endocarditis. A 65-year-old man was admitted to our hospital in May 1985 because of fever of unknown origin. The patient had had fever (41°C), myalgias, nausea, and vomiting, with a weight loss of 6 kg, since August 1984. He had undergone crossover subclavian-subclavian bypass (polytetrafluoroethylene) in 1980 for a stenosis of the left subclavian artery with a subclavian steal syndrome.
