Abstract
Activation of the alternative pathway of [human] complement [C] by C. albicans was examined using a chemotactic assay. Two serologically defined strains and 8 clinical isolates of C. albicans were used in these experiments. All 10 strains of C. albicans were capable of alternative C pathway activation. These findings may provide an insight into host resistance to this infection. Keywords
