Medical Evaluation of Nutritional Status: II. Measurement of Visual Dark Adaptation with the Adaptometer

Abstract
Exptl. work with 3 Hecht and Schlaer adaptometers clearly indicated that comparable data would not be obtained from them as purchased. Suggestions are made to modify and improve the instruments. Variation in subjective criteria of perceptible light flashes may account for variations in final threshold values. Duplicate tests indicate marked differences in reliability of threshold measurements for different periods of dark adaptation declining to a minimum after 30 mins.
