Use of the Sharpless Asymmetric Dihydroxylation as a Substitute for the Katsuki-Sharpless Asymmetric Epoxidation: An Alternative Route to Vitamin E and Prostaglandin Intermediates

Abstract
It has been demonstrated that the Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation (AD) can be served as a substitute for the Katsuki-Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation (AE) in the synthesis of vitamin E and prostaglandin intermediates by using terminal chloromethylalkenyl substrates.
