Abstract
The method of Miescher is used in extraction of nuclear protoplasm from calf liver cells. The preparation upon analysis contained 13.08% N and 2.72% P. The ratio of P:N is 1:4.81. This is in approximate agreement with the findings of others. Such a P content, it is calculated, corresponds to a 31.55% nucleic acid with formula C43H59N15O33P4. The calculated % of N in the remaining portion of nuclear protein leads the author to conclude that protein components of the liver nucleus do not belong to the basic proteins like protamine or histone.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
