Abstract
Observation of 20 fetuses suggests that fetal swallowing is a normal in utero activity that occurs intermittently and is limited to 1 or 2 movements per min. An increase in such intermittent swallowing activity may be seen with polyhydramnios from any cause. The 2 cases of apparent fetal vomiting observed in this study were associated with high gastrointestinal obstruction. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
