Abstract
The Palay rubber plant, Cryptostegia grandiflora, was found to harbor few insect pests in Haiti during the period Feb. 10 to Apr. 14, 1943. The winter dry season prevailed to Apr. 3. The most important pests were the cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii, the hemispherical scale. Saissetia hemi-sphcrica, the fire ant, Solenopsis geminata, and, after the start of the rainy season, several spp. of Curculionids, species undetd., and a milkweed bug, Oncopcltus aulicus. Insects are depended upon for pollination but only a few species appear to be involved because of limitations due to the nature of the blossom.
