Abstract
The chromosome numbers of 216 collections of taxa of the genus Solidago, the majority from the eastern USA, are reported. These include 42 taxa for which chromosome numbers have not heretofore been published. Additional determinations are also reported for 24 taxa for which chromosome numbers have already been published, but nearly all the new determinations have been made on individuals collected in areas which had not previously been sampled. Many of the individuals studied have supernumerary chromosomes. The significance of the data for a number of taxa is discussed, certain revised taxonomic concepts and 2 new names (S. gigantea var. shinnersii and S. jacksonii var. humilis) are proposed. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
