Abstract
A list of fungi found on rice seed is given. Fungi recorded for the first time on New Zealand rice seed include: Alternaria alternata, Curvularia state of Cochliobolus lunatus, Curvularia trifolii, Drechslera australiensis, D. hawaiiensis, Drechslera state of Cochliobolus bicolor, Epicoccum purpurascens, Nigrospora state of Khuskia oryzae, Pithomyces chartarum, and six specics of Fusarium. Alternaria padwickii and the Drechslera state of Cochliobolus miyabeanus were isolated from overseas-grown, but not New Zealand-grown, rice seed. Ten of these fungi are illustrated, with notes on pathogenicity. Keywords
