Abstract
Rat liver homo-genates were separated into nuclei, mitochondria and an un-fractionated residue by differential centrifugation. These fractions were subjected to acid hydrolysis and assayed for acetate-replacing factor activity using a strain of Streptococcus lactis. The major portion of the acetate-replacing factor activity of the homogenates was found to be associated with the mitochondria. Keywords
