Abstract
REPORTS of the current status of marijuana research were presented at a symposium on marijuana held in July 1978 in Reims, France, under the aegis of the Seventh International Congress of Pharmacology.1-2More than 100 scientists from 14 countries attended the meeting sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), The French Ministry of Health, the French National Institute for Health and Research (INSERM), and the International Medical Council on Drug Use. Organizers of the symposium were Gabriel G. Nahas (Columbia University), W. D. M. Paton (Department of Pharmacology, Oxford University), and Monique Braude (NIDA). Analysis, metabolism, cellular responses, and effects on reproduction and on the brain were the topics discussed during the two-day meeting.
