Nonlinear Pressure Terms and Alongwind Response

Abstract
Current procedures for estimating a long wind response on structures are based upon the assumption that the fluctuations about the mean of the wind pressures are proportional to the fluctuations about the mean of the wind speeds. Preliminary time-domain calculations have been reported. Which suggest that the errors inherent in this assumption may, in certain cases, be significant. The extent to which this is the case is investigated herein for building heights and terrain roughness conditions covering the range of interest in structural design.
