A New Ideology of Education

Abstract
The increasing importance of the economic approach to education is stressed and the postulates concerning the concepts and social functions of education upon which modern economics of education is based are analyzed and criticized. The studies on the economics of education in the course of the last ten years, in France and elsewhere, fall into three categories which correspond to three levels of elaboration of a new ideology of education, the origin of which is also contained in the sociological approach upon which the modern economics of education is based.
