Abstract
Measurements have been made of the electron loss cross section in hydrogen gas for hydrogen atoms moving with kinetic energies between 45 kev and 329 kev. At these two limiting energies the values of the cross section were × and × , respectively, with an error of plus or minus 10 percent. Between 120 kev and 329 kev the cross section was found to vary approximately as , where is the kinetic energy of the atom, and is -0.70±0.05.
