Abstract
Twelve species representing nine genera of East African viverrids were studied in captivity and in their natural habitats. Filmed sequences of captive animals showing walking, trotting, running, galloping, jumping, climbing, swimming, and burrowing were studied and are described, and where possible gait formulae are given. The types of locomotion used by different species of viverrids reflect divergent habitats and food preferences. Keywords
