Abstract
Contact between 2 conjugants at a small region of the body is sufficient to initiate the usual nuclear changes appearing in conjugating Paramecium. In the case of a 3rd conjugant the migratory pronucleus of neither the 3rd nor of the adjaeent conjugant moves to the area of contact. In the 3rd conjugant the migratory pro-nucleus moves to the mouth region, indicating that the path of the pronucleus seems predetermined.
